Nate Daly, Planning Manager: Lassen County Wide Hazardous Fuels Assessment Update

Eric McPherren, Geospatial Analyst: 10-minute presentation on how community assets within the WUI are being designated.

Attendees will have an opportunity to participate in a mapping workshop at the end of the Deer Creek Resources talk. Paper maps will be provided for individuals to draw on, to highlight both potential wildfire hazards and assets (such as community, tribal, and recreational resources) that DCR may have overlooked.

Project Understanding  - Lassen County Wide Assessment
Large wildfires, post-fire logging, wildfire resilience-related thinning, prescribed fire projects, and commercial timber harvests have greatly altered forest and wildland vegetation conditions in and around Lassen County communities in the past decade. Existing fuels assessments fail to capture a detailed description of current ground conditions. The Lassen Fire Safe Council, Inc. (LSFC) is seeking updated wildfire hazard mapping and a corresponding report which develops priorities and recommendations for wildfire hazard mitigation projects within Lassen County.
